How It Started
At the age of 7, Barbosa began to write poetry as an outlet of expression due to being bullied at school. It wasn’t long before he created random melodies to go along with those words, thereby creating songs. Eager to showcase those songs, He’d wait outside of his headteacher’s office almost every week just to perform them in front of her. Unlike most of the other boys, he was no good at sports, so he’d often hide away in the library during breaks to focus on his craft. There hadn’t ever been any musicians in his family, but he became well aware of his purpose; he knew he wanted a career as a professional musician. Barbosa started to perform regularly during school assemblies and masses, local festivals and eventually became part of a Gospel Choir.

Debut single Travis
“Picture this perfect angelic being, who has everything you could ever desire, that was Travis to me.” An emptiness I sort of carried with me for a long time. A sense of not ever being good enough, and just feeling used, and that seemed like an ongoing thing for me.”

“Someone came along, and really made me believe that we were heading somewhere good, until he’d suddenly gotten involved with someone else and went public with it. He proposed that we maintain a sexual relationship in secret.”

“I did some stalking and found the new boyfriend (Travis) on Facebook. And I remember thinking, ‘what is it about me’, ‘why am I never good enough?’, and I just couldn’t work out what it would take to be someone he’d want more than just sex from. I really obsessed over the way I looked and the way I did everything. I lost sight of who I was, and I guess most of us do at some point. ‘Travis’ is about realising that you shouldn’t have to change yourself to please someone else.”

Bruno’s sound is pop soul/blues with psychedelic elements.

He has a profound interest for indigenous Indian and African culture, and often draws inspiration for his visual style and sound from indigenous art and spirituality. Woodstock also played a big part in his artistic growth as it not only influenced the way he dressed but also how he envisions the ideal live music experience.
