FACE – Imagination (impacts 29th September on AOA)
The story of FACE is one of friends united over a shared passion for making music, who aren’t afraid to write big, bold, ambitious pop songs that can engage with the masses on a grand scale. This is witnessed on their incredibly impressive debut single ‘Imagination,’ a track that bristles with energy not seen from a band since the early days of The Killers, as FACE channel the widescreen rock of Bruce Springsteen and the pop nous of The 1975 with effortless ease. Now signed to Stuart Price’s Warners-affiliated label AOA, it was Price (Pet Shop Boys/New Order/Everything Everything) who lent a hand in the recording of their debut single, a track that sees swirling guitars, crashing drums and singer David Arthur’s vocal hook deliver an unforgettable opening salvo from such a young band. Now based in London, the band were formed in Glasgow by vocalist David Arthur, Matt Kern, drummer Slim Gabriel, and guitarist JC.

Biography
It seems strange in the modern world of music, one seemingly dominated by manufactured pop bands and synthesised dance music, that the story of FACE is one of friends united over a shared passion for making music, who aren’t afraid to write big, bold, ambitious pop songs that can engage with the masses on a grand scale. This is witnessed on their incredibly impressive debut single ‘Imagination,’ released on the 7th July, a track that bristles with energy not seen from a band since the early days of The Killers, as FACE channel the widescreen rock of Bruce Springsteen and the pop nous of The 1975 with effortless ease.

All this is not to say the band haven’t put in the groundwork. From working dead end jobs and staying in windowless basements barely managing to pay the rent, they sought solace in the music they were writing and making.

David says of the track: “ ‘Imagination' is a song about letting go in life. Being wild, rebelling against authority, following your dreams without fear, doing whatever you feel is right without a single hesitation to what people say or think about you. Step outside of that little everyday box that's been created for you by people very much inside the box.”

Now based in London, the band were formed in Glasgow by vocalist David Arthur, with the FACE line up completed by Matt Kern, drummer Slim Gabriel – originally from Istanbul – and guitarist JC, and look set to be propelled to the forefront of modern guitar pop
