Kyan – Sometimes (focus date 9th October on Virgin EMI)
Up and coming singer/songwriter Kyan returns with a new EP, Remote View, out 9th October. Having recently collaborated with the likes of Duke Dumont, Knox Brown, Madeon, Bondax, Benga & Just Kiddin’, the Cambridge born producer/songwriter now moves on to his forthcoming solo release and the result is nothing short of astonishing. Lead track ‘Sometimes’ demonstrates a maturity of sound that belies the young artist’s age. Heartfelt and piano laden, it’s an emotive, slow tempo ballad that lets Kyan’s breathtaking vocals take centre stage.  Kyan first emerged with The Purple Experiment EP, a release that Sunday Times Culture said “more than justifies the hype” and first signaled the emergence of this soul star with a real British sensibility.  It’s bold and beautiful, and comes directly from the heart. Last year’s second EP Days in a Triangle featured the lead track ‘Taking The City’, currently sitting at 1 million plays on Spotify, recognised for its use in ITV’s popular series Ripper Street.  A truly unique voice, an innovative producer & a spellbinding lyricist, Kyan is set to release his debut album in 2016.

Up and coming singer/songwriter Kyan returns with a new EP, Remote View, out via Virgin/EMI on 9th October 2015. Having recently collaborated with the likes of Duke Dumont, Knox Brown, Madeon, Bondax, Benga and Just Kiddin’, the Cambridge born producer/songwriter’s now moves on to his forthcoming solo release and the result is nothing short of astonishing.

Lead track ‘Sometimes’ demonstrates a maturity of sound that belies the young artist’s age. Heartfelt and piano laden, it’s an emotive, slow tempo ballad that lets Kyan’s breathtaking vocals take centre stage, gripping the listener from the very first note.

‘Wire On the Fences’, co-produced by Knox Brown is a tour de force, a state of the nation track that reinforces Kyan as a musician steeped in classical knowledge. ‘Grammar’ comes super-charged with R&B prowess, whilst ‘Rather Be With You’ is a, simple but devastatingly effective tune with a honest and profound vocal line. The EP finishes with ‘Drive’. It’s an epic closer complete with whirling synths and rolling drumwork that continues to pound forward whilst Kyan’s voice soars above.

A truly unique voice, an innovative producer and a spellbinding lyricist, Kyan is set to release his debut album in 2016. It’s a groundbreaking record for a UK artist, one that blends future-soul with classic songwriting.

‘Sometimes’ is out via Virgin / EMI on 26th August 2015. Remote View EP is out 9th October 2015.
